What are shanties?

Shanties were songs sung by workers throughout their working day, more notably with miners, sailors and those that worked on the railway lines. Shanties have become more popular over the years due to the recent film release “Fisherman’s Friends”. A shanty group from North Cornwall, in Port Isaac’s.
